The components of a generator are the following:

  • Differential switch;
  • Permanent soundproofing controller;
  • Automatic intervention board;
  •  Remote control;
  • Diverse tensions or frequencies;
  • Engine oil heater;
  • Energy meter;
  • Devices for automatic fuel filling.

The differential switch protects against accidental contact with parts in tension, automatically interrupting the energy supply. The differential switch is assembled by electrically connecting the neutral to the mass (normally the generator frame) that in turn is connected to the earth via the appropriate contact. Therefore the differential switch is normally used on fixed-system generators.

The permanent soundproofing controller protects against accidental contact with parts in tension, automatically interrupting the energy supply. The electric connection is carried out with the IT system: the point of equal electric potential (neutral) is isolated by the earth, avoiding the circuit closure, without needing to be connected to the earth. This is useful in damp areas, or when it is not possible to earth correctly.

The automatic intervention board or control unit automatically activates the generator (as long as it has electric start-up) when the network-supplied energy is interrupted. The board protects the generator from any functioning faults. It is also possible to connect the board’s relay to devices that can switch the generator on and off based on the circumstances.

The remote control has a cable that allows the engine to be turned on and off from a distance of a few metres.

Diverse tensions ( 110 - 48 Volt) or frequencies ( 60Hz) can be required when purchasing the generator.

The heater is useful in cold climates for keeping the oil at a temperature that maintains the ideal running conditions in an automatic intervention generator.

The energy meter is the classic, UTIF-approved meter for counting kwatts.

The automatic fuel filling devices are used in generators found in isolated areas, to avoid them running out of fuel after prolonged use. They automatically fill the generator’s tank with fuel drawn from an external cistern.
